The three personnel were treated for minor burns at the track’s medical centre, before the cars were checked for damage.

It is not known how the fire started, but the Woking-based squad has confirmed they have launched an investigation.

Although the fire was small and extinguished quickly, McLaren have said it will not affect their remaining programme of pre-season tests next week.

Pre-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya will finish next Tuesday, 26 February.

A similar fire at the circuit happened in 2012 in the Williams pit garage, following Pastor Maldonado’s Spanish Grand Prix race win.

Although some of the Williams crew were treated by medics following the fire, none of the injuries were serious.

Maldonado’s 2012 Spanish GP win for Williams remains the team’s last Grand Prix win to date.
