One of the happier stories of the day was how a young fan of Kimi Räikkönen got to meet his hero trackside, as the race continued.
Seen crying on the opening lap, as his favourite driver was knocked out of the race from a collision with Max Verstappen, Thomas later got the chance to meet his hero behind the scenes.
Räikkönen gave the boy a Ferrari cap before posing for a photograph with his young fan, who by now was smiling.
The boy was later seen sitting on the shoulders of a member of the Ferrari team below the podium, as he watched the post-race champagne celebrations between race winner Lewis Hamilton, fellow Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo.
